Bullshweet · TechCrunch Disrupt Hackathon
This weekend my Stuph coworkers and I participated in the TechCrunch Disrupt hackathon. We built Bullshweet, a Twitter game where you and your friends can devise celebrity tweets and guess if they're real. Give it a try.
My goals for this hackathon were:
- Build something that works. My first hackathon project, Actually, worked but was very slow. Samihah Azim, a designer I worked with on the project, wrote a great summary. The team didn't know each other when we began, but by the end we had bonded. This hackathon took place in the Dropbox HQ when it had virtually no furniture.
- Write some CSS. This was very enjoyable. Everyone should get out of Photoshop/Sketch occasionally.
- Present without issues. My second hackathon project, Elephoto, had a severe bug during the demo. It's heartbreaking to work so hard and then see a white screen while everyone is watching. Fortunately, that didn't happen with Bullshweet.
Unfortunately, we didn't win any prizes. The judges, however, rated us high enough to earn TechCrunch Disrupt tickets.
Just wait 'til next year.
