That’s the message I’m hearing. Can’t find Twitter friends on other services (Instagram, Tumblr, and more to come)? That’s because the people you follow aren’t your friends.

Twitter is about brands, partnerships, and media now. Cards are the future; not conversations. They want to become a universal middle man for content distribution.

Why are they moving away from friendships? Facebook. Twitter wants to be bigger than Facebook (I think it can be more powerful but not necessarily bigger). They know the friend angle is over. The next play is media, and I think that’s where the big money is.
